Director, NAD Law and Advocacy

Greetings everyone.

Instead of writing my farewell column, I made a videoclip. To see this clip go to:

The video is captioned and the text translation is at the bottom of this email.

Onwards and Upwards!

Hello this is Kelby Brick from the National Association of the Deaf (NAD). I wanted to let you know that the action videos from the last two weeks resulted in many comments filed with the government. Many officials were very surprised at the volume of filings from consumers like you. They did not expect that. I was very impressed and I applaud you for your activism. I appreciate what you have done. Thank you for making a difference!

If you haven’t taken action, it is not too late! You can still file comments. It’s easy to file comments on the two important issues.

To file comments to make videophone numbers same as phone numbers, go to:

As many of you know, I am leaving the NAD. I will miss the NAD. I love the NAD. This is my last Eye on Washington (EOW) message. I am bidding you farewell. I am excited about the new job, challenges, and adventures and maybe a bit nervous as well. However, when I look back at the NAD, I am touched that I was able to be part of the NAD for a number of years. The NAD will always be a part of my heart.

I know that the NAD will remain strong. They have been around for 126 years and most of those without me. They will remain strong without me and I am merely a blip in the history of the NAD. I am not worried. The NAD will remain strong with your support.

I want to recognize 4 key individuals and groups.

1. My boss Nancy Bloch who was my mentor and taught me so much. She has helped me for many years. I’m very grateful to Nancy. If not for her, I wouldn’t be where I am.

2. NAD staff. They are very committed folks. They are dedicated with passion and are always rolling up their sleeves to work everyday, all day and night. They are the best staff anywhere I have seen. We need to thank NAD staff. Thank you NAD staff!

3. NAD Board for their involvement and leadership. This includes the NAD boards under former President Kent Kennedy, former president Andy Lange, and under the newly elected President Bobbie Beth Scoggins. Those three administrations did great work! Thank you.

4. The last group and the most important group are members and supporters like you. You have been very involved. You make the NAD strong. The NAD has done so much because of people like you. Thank you for making a difference. Now I will join your ranks as a regular member and active supporter. Like you, I will be a volunteer. The NAD will remain strong.

If you are not a member, grab this opportunity to join! Go to: http://www.nad.org/join

If you are already a member, wonderful! What else can you do? You can donate to make the NAD even stronger. Go to: http://www.nad.org/donate

Together, we can change the world!

Onwards and upwards!

Farewell!
