St. Joseph beats Texas School for the Deaf

AUSTIN – Alec Castilleja returned an interception 23 yards to set up a St. Joseph score and help the Eagles to a 33-14 victory over Texas School for the Deaf on Friday.

St. Joseph was leading 19-14 in the fourth quarter when Castilleja grabbed the interception that set up Blake Stone’s 6-yard touchdown pass to Blake Lipscomb with 6:03 left.

St. Joseph’s Chris Alejandro added a 10-yard touchdown run to put the game out of reach.

Alejandro rushed for 188 yards on 31 carries and also scored on a 34-yard run early in the third quarter.

St. Joseph’s Chad Peavey also connected on four field goals, including three in the first half from 25, 30 and 19 yards out to give the Eagles a 9-8 halftime lead. Peavey also hit a 30-yarder in the second half and kicked three extra points.

St. Joseph (2-0) will face Baytown Christian next Friday at 7 p.m.
