The Agency’s Role: Serving People Who Are Deaf or Hard of Hearing

Attendees will become acquainted with laws, such as the American with Disabilities Act (ADA), that require programs and services to provide appropriate accommodations to persons who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Agencies, Staff, Interpreters, Police Officers, Border Patrols, Parents, Families, Friends, Public are welcome to attend to benefit from this

The Parent’s Role: Children in Special Education Who Are Deaf or Hard of Hearing

Attendees will leave with an understanding of some of the differences regarding how to accommodate people who are deaf in contrast to
those who are hard of hearing.

This forum will focus on IDEA as it applies to children who are deaf or hard of hearing and will touch on some of the most important changes within the IDEA 2004. In addition, participants will learn how to write measurable IEP goals. There will be a focus on answering audience questions related to this law and the goal of achieving a free and appropriate public education for these students.

Parents, school personnel, families, and interpreters are welcome to attend to benefit from this workshop!
