HOW DO YOU TRANSLATE THAT?: Basic Scientific Concepts in ASL
Manny teaches educational interpreters of any stripe as well as teachers, parents, and school staff how to convey many basic concepts of science and chemistry. He provides not only superb translations but also strategies on how to capitalize on the power of the classifier and rethink scientific concepts in ASL, not in English, therefore making the information truly accessible to Deaf clients in the classroom.
Afternoon Workshop 1 pm to 4 pm
FRYING UP CLASSIFIERS: Adding Spice to ASL
Those who study ASL will find that one of Manny ASL’s many strengths as a storyteller is his mastery and incorporation of classifiers in his work. Manny ASL teaches how to improve the use of classifiers in your ASL through a combination of discussion of how classifiers truly work in ASL and a series of exercises to help spice up your ASL.
Please note that there will be no voice interpreting available for both workshops.
Limited 45 Seats per each workshop
Cost: $30 for one workshop or $50 for two workshops
All fees proceeding to International Studies Fund raising for students to travel to Italy in March 2007
