South Austin Hosp Wins 2006 Communication Advocate Award

CSD is proud to announce the presentation of the 2006 Communication Advocate Awards. These awards were presented at the Austin Association of the Deaf’s 60th Anniversary and during TSD Alumni Association’s Hall of Fame Award Ceremony Friday, October 6, 2006.

Consistently accommodating the emergency, short term and long term communication needs of patients who are Deaf, and the medical personnel that support them, at South Austin Hospital through the provision of Sign Language Interpreters for many, many years

Working to improve the quality of interpreters provided, improve the response time and address the need to provide communication access as quickly as possible within the hospital setting

Recognizing the positive impact that providing communication access in a timely fashion has on the overall health of patients who are deaf and lowering the stress involved for all parties when addressing healthcare needs of patients who are deaf
