Deaf Real Estate
Hello,
My name is Julie Coan. I’m the Director of Communications at the PBS station in Houston. Can you help? We hosting a FREE sneak preview screening a film called, “Deaf Jam” at Rice Cinema on Tuesday, October 18. The Director of the film, Judy Lieff, will be at our screening.
Do you know if there’s anyone in Houston doing ASL Poetry? It would be great to have a performance after the film and before the Q&A with the Director.
Also, can you please help publicize the event? Do you have any ideas on what organizations we could reach out to?
Here’s a description of the film:
DEAF JAM
by Judy Lieff
Aneta Brodski is a deaf teenager living in New York City. As she prepares to be among the first deaf competitors in a National Poetry Slam, she discovers the power of American Sign Language poetry to transcend and liberate.
TUESDAY, OCTOBER 18 at 7 P.M.
Rice Cinema, Entrance # 8 – University Blvd at Stockton
You can watch a preview of the film here: http://www.deafjam.org/film.html
Thanks so much.
All the best,
Julie Coan
