REMINDER: 2011 Fort Worth Mayoral Candidate Forum 4/27/11

REMINDER: 2011 Fort Worth Mayoral Candidate Forum

URGENT REMINDER!

League of Women Voters of Tarrant County’s 2011 Fort Worth Mayoral
Candidate Forum: April 27th – 7:00 PM – UNT Health Science Center,
Auditorium Medical Education & Training Building – Camp Bowie & Montgomery
Street – Fort Worth, Texas! See you there!

With all the changes taking place in the City of Fort Worth to make City
Government more accessible for the deaf and hard of hearing community, it is
important to learn about the candidates running for Mayor of Fort Worth.
Mayor Mike Moncrief is not running for re-election. Candidates who have
served on the Fort Worth City Council before are running for Mayor now.
Before now, access for the deaf and hard of hearing community was
questionable. Some of you may know more about this than Tracey and Friends,
prior to 2008.

This is an important time in Fort Worth history for the deaf and hard of
hearing community as well as all of Fort Worth, especially for those who
communicate in American Sign Language. Please attend so that we elect a
Mayor who will help move steps forward, not backwards, for the deaf and hard
of hearing community. Sign Language Interpreting will be provided. This is
an opportunity to learn about and meet the candidates. Join us! See map
of UNT Medical Education & Training Building location at
http://www.lwvtarrantcounty.org/ .

For more information, please contact the League of Women Voters of Tarrant
County at 817-348-8683 or email [email protected]. Also see
http://www.lwvtarrantcounty.org/ for dates of Forums in Richlands Hills,
Grapevine/Colleyville, Keller and Bedford in April and May The more visible
the deaf and hard of hearing community is, the more we can accomplish.

Please pass this message to friends and family and ask them to attend with
you. An example of a question to ask candidates is: What are your plans to
improve access to city government and access within our city for the deaf
and hard of hearing community, including employment, captioning city council
meetings on television and the Internet, deaf representation on city boards
and commissions, and getting businesses and other government offices in our
city to do the same?

Remember to register to vote, especially if you are nearing your 18th
birthday.

Thank you,

Tracey and Friends
