Press Release

Less than two weeks after the September 11 attacks, New Yorkers are still in
shock. One of them, an editor named Joan, receives an unexpected phone call
from Nick, a fire captain who has lost most of his men in the attack. Nick
needs a writer to help him with the eulogies he will present at the memorial
services. Nick and Joan spend a long afternoon recalling the fallen men by
recounting their virtues and foibles and fashioning the stories into
poignant tributes. As they make their way through the emotional landscape of
grief, they draw upon humor, pathos and the enduring bonds of humanity.

Based on a true story, “The Guys” is a courageous, often funny, riveting
play that deals with the horror of 9/11 with an intimacy that is both
unsettling and healing. In observance of the 10th Anniversary of 9/11, this
is an encore of the first production presented at LSC-CyFair in 2003.
