Signs2go Interpreting and Support Services, LLC.

is sending a reminder for the 3rd Saturday Workshop for September followed
by the 3rd Saturday Silent Night Pot Luck Social:

Workshop Title: Medical Intake and Surgical Procedures

Presenters: Phyllis Bullon & Muriel Buie (Level III)

Date: Saturday, September 17, 2011

Time: 10:00 am – 5:00 pm

Location:
3929 Seven Gables St
Fort Worth TX 76133

Cost: $35.00

CEUs: .6 total (.3 Ethics &.3 General)

You signed it…but, was it understood? Not everything has a corresponding
sign and fingerspelling medical terminology does not give way to
comprehension… Especially if the client is stressed by pain, nerves, etc.
Knowing the vocabulary, knowing the spelling, and using expansion and
clarification techniques to build the picture will make the information more
easily understood for the client. We will be focusing on 6-10 different
surgeries and the best ways to present the info for the procedure, the after
care, possible complications, and exploring various ways to portray the
information visually. The signer should know how well they are presenting
the information by how well their partner can voice the presentation. We
will also be covering the Medical Intake paperwork (HIPAA, Admissions,
Medical History, Patients Rights and Responsibilities, Living Will, Power of
Attorney, Do Not Resuscitate, etc.) and the Ethical Responsibilities of
being privy to all this information.

Proceeds from the workshop to benefit the 3rd Saturday Silent Night Pot Luck
Social and the Deaf Studies Reference Library

Workshop will be followed by the 3rd Saturday Silent Night Pot Luck Social
from 7:00pm-12:00am
