HALF-DAY WORKSHOP, MEMBER PRESENTATIONS, AND OTHER ACTIVITIES

THE SCHEDULE

8:00 – 8:30 a.m.
REGISTRATION / MEET AND GREET
Submit the classroom management topics or questions for the afternoon
discussions.

8:30 – 11:30 a.m.
PREPARING ASL STUDENTS FOR CAREER IN INTERPRETING
A three-hour workshop presented by SHELLEY HARDELL, Instructor, Tarrant
County College.
Ms Hardell will discuss ways of providing ASL students with a foundation for
success in a college interpreter training program.
(Certificate of participation given at the end of the day)

11:30 – 12:30 p.m.
LUNCH BREAK
Will be on your own or brown-bag-it. (University cafeteria is close by and
a few fast food restaurants across the street)

12:30 – 2:00 p.m.
MEMBER PRESENTATIONS
Ten minute member presentations on any topic from ASL teaching to assessment
ideas followed by five minute Q/A. ASLTA DFW members may submit a topic and
two-three sentences describing their presentation idea. Five presentation
topics will be selected. Deadline for submission: November 5
Certificate of Member Presentation will be given. What a great addition to
your teaching resume and impress your boss!

2:00 – 3:30
TOPIC: CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT
Focuses on productive discussions regarding selected classroom management
topics.

TOPIC: ASL CLUB ACTIVITIES
Focuses on questions and suggestions regarding ASL Club activities.

FEES:
Members = $10.00
Non-members = $20.00 (includes new membership)
Payment can be made by cash or a check (made payable to “DFW-ASLTA”) during
registration time (8:00 – 8:30 a.m.).
