The National Association for the Deaf (NAD) announces that South Dakota
Governor Dennis Daugaard will be unable to attend the 51st Biennial NAD
Conference on July 3 – 7, 2012 in Louisville, Kentucky.

NAD Responds to Community Discussion on Governor Daugaard

The National Association of the Deaf (NAD) wishes to respond to the
outpouring of concern, opposition, and support regarding the choice of
South Dakota Governor Dennis Daugaard as a plenary presenter during the
51st Biennial NAD Conference to be held July 3-7, 2012 in Louisville,
Kentucky.

Call for Proposed Priorities Deadline

The NAD Board of Directors welcomes submissions from individual members
and organizational affiliates for proposed priorities for the next two
years (2012-2014). The deadline to submit priority proposals is now
extended to June 9, 2012. If you missed the opportunity to submit a

Workshop Updates

The NAD Conference offers exciting, informative and forward-looking
education, training and public policy workshops from Wednesday, July 4
through Friday, July 6th in the following tracks: ASL: Arts and
Academics, Deaf Education, Economic Empowerment & Employment, Equal
Access Through Technology, Grassroots & Legislative Advocacy, and
Additional Areas of Interest.

Additional workshops have been added to the list of the workshops being
held at the 51st biennial NAD Conference. Of special note – following
our theme, we are having a panel on diversity titled, ‘Nothing Diverse
About Us, Without Us’.

Children’s Camp Deadline

The NAD is pleased to announce it will provide activities,
entertainment and field trips for children aged 3 to 17. Three-to
4-year-olds must be accompanied by at least one parent/guardian. The
program will be held during the 51st Biennial NAD Conference from July
4–6 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The camp’s registration has been extended to June 15!

Certified Deaf Interpreter Workshop Deadline

The NAD is pleased to offer a Certified Deaf Interpreter (CDI) training
workshop during the 2012 NAD Conference in Louisville, Kentucky on
Thursday, July 5 & Friday, July 6 from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. The workshop,
led by Jimmy Beldon, will explore the Roles, Functions and Ethics of
Deaf Interpreting at the Kentucky International Convention Center
(KICC).

The registration deadline falls on June 15, 2012!
