Hotel / Motel Accessibility Survey

TDI eNote July 20, 2012

Summer is nearly half way over. Some of us have spent time in a hotel
or motel as we embarked on new adventures on the road in the spirit of
fun. On the other hand, we read news reports of people who had to
escape the oppressive heat wave, or cope with power outages by staying
at whatever room they could find with power and air conditioning. I
hope that if you have stayed in a hotel or motel recently, it was a
pleasant experience for you.

Did you know it has been 22 years this month since the Americans with
Disabilities Act (ADA) was passed? During that time, many hotels and
motels have become more accessible than before, but we continue to hear
stories about hotels and motels that are still not providing accessible
telecommunications and media amenities. TDI wants to discuss this issue
with the hospitality industry, and if necessary the US Department of
Justice (DOJ). But we need specific information from you regarding your
experiences with telephone and television accessibility in the hotels
and motels in which you have stayed in order to document our concerns.
Please take a few moments to fill out the survey and share your
experiences. It should take no more than 10 minutes to complete. Thank
you for helping TDI shape an accessible world as you travel.
