Under the direction of the Principal Investigator and Project Director,
works collaboratively with National Consortium of Interpreter Education
Centers to develop and/or conduct training programs, services and
products based on information from needs assessments and best
practices; and facilitates and coordinates appropriate and timely
professional development activities for interpreters and consumers
within the region and nationally.

Requirements:

Master’s degree in sign language interpretation, rehabilitation, human
services, social science or related field. Sign language interpreting
certification by a national body required. (Applications from
individuals holding a Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree without
national certification would be accepted with exceptional field
experience and sign language fluency.) Must have knowledge of: program
planning strategies and evaluation; trends and effective practices
related to interpreter education; record-keeping techniques; public
speaking techniques and instructional methods for adult learners;
computer programs such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Dreamweaver or
other web design software. Must be able to: work within a collaborative
structure and team environment; create, plan and implement programming
related to interpretation for Deaf/Deaf-blind/hard of hearing
individuals; develop and conduct training programs, workshops and
seminars based on needs assessments; coordinate Region-wide activities
and outreach; provide technical assistance regarding interpreter
related or programmatic issues; administer funds and maintain accurate
budget records; prepare and maintain records and reports; explain
policies and procedures to stakeholders and consumer groups;
communicate effectively orally, manually and in writing; establish and
maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others;
work independently with little direction; supervise and train other
personnel as assigned; prepare and deliver oral/manual instruction and
presentations; demonstrate interpersonal skills using patience, tact
and courtesy; maintain current knowledge of advances in the
interpreting field involving linguistics, literature, current research,
instructional technology and resources; and travel regionally and
nationally at least, if not more than, twice annually.

This position is funded by the Department of Education Rehabilitation
Services Administration. Ability to learn and follow Government rules
and regulations related to assigned activities and in preparation for
grant renewal proposals required.
