The Office for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services (DHHS) in Austin contracts with entities to provide 14 Deafness Resource Specialists across the state to provide advocacy services for communication access (CART and/or interpreter services) to Texans who are deaf and hard of hearing. Their services are free.

DHHS also contracts with entities to provide 12 Hearing Loss Resource Specialists across the state to provide Information, education and provide demonstrations of assistive technology for Texans who are deaf and hard of hearing.

Both Deafness RSs and Hearing Loss RSs can also work with businesses and employers in regards to Communication access and assistive technology.
