ELECTION TIME!

(List of candidates to be announced October 10)

Due to unforeseen factors, the election for two officers need to be moved to November 2012 and certain situations revised to move our chapter forward. Per our new bylaws, the Past President Dawn Clyburn is leading the election for new President and Secretary and will arrange for the voting methodology to take place on November 10th.

Description of the office of President:
1. Preside at all meetings of the General Membership and Board meetings.
2. Be responsible for the oversight of all Board duties and for coordination of all Board activities but not limited to preparation of the Board meeting agendas and appointing committee chairs.
3. Serve as the primary liaison with external organizations.
4. Serve as the consultant to Bylaws Chair, Chapter Affiliation Chair, Treasury Audit Chair, and other appointed chairs.

Description of the office of Secretary:
1. Keep accurate and complete minutes of all meetings of the DFW Chapter and the Executive Board.
2. Keep on file all documents, correspondences, electronic data storage, communications and other papers related to the business of the chapter.
3. Work with the Treasurer in maintaining the 503 (c) (1) standing status.

Members will self-nominate for either office and send notification to Dawn Clyburn at [email protected] NO LATER THAN MIDNIGHT OF OCTOBER 8TH. Per the bylaws, since we already have some nominations for each office, no nominations off the floor will take place. The announcement of candidates for each officer will take place on October 10. This allows a total of 31 days before the formal election at the general meeting/election on November 10th.

Instructions for active members interested in running for one of the above offices:
1) The member must be a verified active member since May 2012 AND become member of the national ASLTA.
2) The member must submit either via email or postal mail his/her full name AND a brief memo of interest for each office and include the following:
a) The specific office the member wants to run for. If the member wishes to run for both offices, that person needs to send a SEPARATE MEMO for each office.
b) Biographical data (150-200 words) detailing the nominee’s qualifications for the office to be viewed by the voting members. Emphasis will be on experience and skills with ASL teaching, ASL-related experiences, and for this office.
c) Signature (for postal mail) or electronic signature (for email).

SEND ALL THE ABOVE TO DAWN CLYBURN AT [email protected] NO LATER THAN MIDNIGHT OF OCTOBER 8, 2012.
