A Certified Deaf Interpreter may be needed when the communication mode of a deaf individual is so unique that it cannot be adequately accessed by interpreters who are hearing. The goal for the deaf/hearing interpreter team is to communicate more effectively than a hearing interpreter alone or a team of two hearing interpreters, or a CDI alone. With that said, there can be cultural challenges for the interpreter team when we add into the mix trilingual interpreters. This session will focus on how the deaf/hearing trilingual  interpreter team functions, the cultural influences of team members, and the benefits the team can provide the hearing end user.

Remember, this is Central Standard Time

Intended Audience:  Trilingual and Deaf interpreters

Communication access to Webinar-based trainings can be obtained either by using the video relay option of your choice or by requesting CART services no later than August 10.  To request CART please contact Randi Turner at [email protected]

For those using video relay services, we suggest you sign on at least fifteen minutes previous to the training in case there is a wait for a video interpreter (VI).  Please let your VI know this will be a webinar based training that you are attending so they may call for back-up, as per their company’s policy.
