Communication Service for the Deaf, Inc. (CSD) has been honored to support the education and advocacy efforts for Texan Deaf and hard of hearing communities in the cities of Austin, El Paso, Lubbock, San Antonio, and Tyler.  After some careful thought, CSD will not renew those contracts with the Texas Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services (DARS).  When our current contracts end on August 31, 2013, CSD will support the transition of these contracts in partnership with the new service provider that will be selected and announced by DARS soon.  CSD is committed to ensuring that the needs of consumers continue to be supported during this period.

Over the past year, CSD has grown in Texas and created a large number of different employment opportunities for deaf and hard of hearing people.  We are committed to offering different services to meet the needs of Deaf and hard of hearing people.  For example, CSD will improve our choices in how to access and request interpreting services and introduce a brand new solution for on-site and virtual sign language interpreting.  We are also in the process of launching Vineya, a new national marketplace for scheduling and receiving interpreting services.

We are also proud of our sponsorship of the many conferences and fundraisers by the Deaf and hard of hearing communities in Texas. We have actively supported the Texas School for the Deaf and its many important programs for deaf children and their families.  Our employees serve on the boards of numerous organizations in Texas that support individuals who are deaf and the community at-large.  Our support and participation in the Texas Deaf and hard of hearing communities will continue.
