Are you a mom of a deaf or hard of hearing child? Join us for an overnight retreat filled with information, fun, relaxation and connections. $75 per person for early registration and that includes: lodging, meals, speakers, discussion groups and a little pampering!

PRESENTERS:

Rachel St. John, MD, NCC, NIC-A

Rachel St. John is a board-certified pediatrician, and a certified sign language interpreter through RID. She received her BS degree in psychology at George Mason University. She completed her MD degree at the University of Virginia School of Medicine, and then attended Georgetown University Hospital for her residency in pediatrics. She also holds an MA degree in counseling from Gallaudet University. In the past, she served as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics, and the Director of the Kids Clinic for the Deaf at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC.

Currently, Dr. St. John is the director of the Family-Focused Center for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Children at Children’s Medical Center Dallas/UT Southwestern Medical Center. The FFC provides support for families to make informed decisions regarding their child who is deaf/hard of hearing, as well as provide education and collaborative support to providers caring for these patients in keeping with national standards. She also works as a health education consultant at the state and national level, as well as a designated interpreter with a deaf post-doctoral Neuropsychiatry lab researcher.

Statewide Parent Liaison
the Educational Resource Center on Deafness (ERCOD)

Lisa is the Statewide Parent Liaison at the Educational Resource Center on Deafness (ERCOD). In this position she coordinates programs and services that promote parent involvement, as it relates to families with children who are deaf or hard of hearing, and also administers the Texas Guide By Your Side program. She is a co-founder and current board member of Texas Hands & Voices. Lisa and her husband Steve are the proud parents of two daughters, including Emma, who is deaf.
