Austin Interpreters for the Deaf presents Deafblind Interpreting: A Panel Discussion This workshop brings together interpreters from across Austin and the surrounding area to share their experiences. This panel session will focus on interpreting for deafblind consumers. The panelists have been chosen based on their expertise in a specific field and the years of experience interpreting in that field.

Practical information will be shared regarding actual ethical dilemmas faced by interpreters in everyday settings. Participants, certified and pre-certified interpreters, will have an opportunity to engage with panelists, and each other, to work through these real ethical dilemmas.

Panel Members:

Nancy Riley, Moderator. Interpreter, SSP, Educator She is interested in exploring “DB Heart” through involvement with the DB community at national camps and local events.

Kim Powers: DeafBlind Self Advocacy Trainer; Master Certification, Pro-Tactile Trainer, President TXDBA, Board Member & Task Force of DBSC of Austin

Molly Sinanan: Helen Keller Regional Representative

Doug Rollins: DB Support Service Provider Coordinator, Interpreter Coordinator for TXDBA and CDI
