AUSTIN — Run to Hear 5K is being held Lake Pflugerville next weekend at 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2015.

The initiative was started by three friends who grew up together with a hearing disability.

Bridget Black, one of the founders of the race, joined KVUE to talk about him and his friends, the race and how it came about.

The Run to Hear 5K raises money for Any Baby Can’s Children Hearing Aids of Texas (CHAT) Program and the Dallas Hearing Foundation. Any Baby Can’s chief communications officer John Branham also joined KVUE to talk about the number of Texas children with a hearing disability and how hearing aids can affect families.

Registration for the Run to Hear 5K is now open. To pay the $30 registration fee, participants can register online or at the race.
