Federal Disaster Assistance for Texas 2015

Federal Disaster Assistance for Texas 2015

Good Morning,

My name is Linda Landers and I am a Disability Integration Specialist Advisor who will be supporting the State of Texas and FEMA to assist with the disaster operation.

As you I am sure you are aware, the State of Texas asked for and received a Presidential Disaster Declaration, which provides assistance for those impacted by the recent flooding in three counties, Hayes, Harris and Van Zandt.

There are a number of ways someone can register for assistance. In the next few days there will be information in the media, including Facebook, Twitter and local news stations regarding Disaster Recovery Centers that will open in these counties. These are joint State – FEMA assistance centers and provide information from the Small Business Administration, Disaster Unemployment benefits, American Red Cross, human services and other resources. We will have VRI at these locations as well as assistive listening devices, materials in large print and Braille. We can also provide sign language interpreters.

Anyone may also register online at http://www.disasterassistance.gov. We also have Disaster Survivor Assistance Teams who will be canvassing neighborhoods and can complete registrations at someone’s home or wherever they are staying. If you know anyone who would like to arrange an appointment to complete their application in their home or other location and would like to have a certified interpreter present or any other requests for accommodations to complete the process.

If you know of anyone who has lost or damaged durable medical equipment, we may also be able to assist with temporary replacement.

Please let me know if I can be of assistance in any way or answer any questions. I can reach at 940-230-6765 V/R.
