Moore, Laura Lemmon

April 3, 1947 – February 23, 2016

Laura Lemmon Moore lost her battle with cancer on Tuesday, February 23, 2016. She resides now, free of pain and suffering , with her Lord and loving mother, Doris Tolleson Lemmon, who preceded her in death. Also, preceding Laura in death, were her uncles, Jack and Orbra Tolleson, and her step-brother, Gordon Keahey.

Laura is survived by her father, Harold Jim Lemmon and his wife, Myrt Keahey Lemmon; daughter, LaRona L. Moore; aunt, Sandra G. Tolleson; cousin, Barry Lawrence; step-brother, Eric Keahey and wife, Christy; step-nephew, Justin Keahey and his wife, Jocelyn.

Laura, deaf since birth, leaves a host of friends in the Deaf Community who will miss her indomitable spirit and contagious smile.

She was born in Lansing, Michigan on April 3, 1947 and moved to Texas the next year after her father graduated from Michigan State University. Laura graduated from the Jane Brooks School at the Oklahoma College for Women in 1954, and from Lee College at Baytown, Texas with an Associate Degree in Business. She spent her working career at Music & Sound, Inc., the family business in Dallas.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 11:00 am in the Shipp Chapel of Lovers Lane United Methodist Church located at 9200 Inwood Road, Dallas, TX 75220. Dr. Tom Hudspeth will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Laura’s memory to the Deaf Ministry at Lovers Lane United Methodist Church.
