Houston Metro and MetroLift services meeting 10/18/16

Houston Metro and MetroLift services meeting

DATE: Tuesday, October 18, 2016

TIME: 12:30 pm till 2 pm

ADDRESS:
6400 Bissonet
Houston, TX 77074

The Houston Deaf community has so many problems communicating with our bus service, Metro and MetroLift, that there will be a special workshop for the Deaf to bring their issues and complains to the staff of Metro. Pick ups by Metro are often very late and the Deaf have a very hard time getting to the dispatcher for Metro to ask why the ride is late. Scheduling time often makes a Deaf late for an appointment. Late pick ups also make the Deaf family and friends worried when the Deaf does not get there on time.

Often the driver will favor the hearing person on the same pick up and make the Deaf the last person dropped off at a destination although the Deaf was picked up first. There will be many other complaints and we need to share them with each other and Metro. The workshop will be at the Bayland Community Center, located at 6400 Bissonet St. Houston 77074. The workshop will start at 12:30 pm and go on until 2 pm. There will be some refreshments served. ASL interpreters will be provided by Metro.

HOWEVER, YOU MUST R.S.V.P. WITH DARLA CONNER WITH HCIL AT 713-491-2381 VP OR 713-974-46121 VOICE/TTY

Please attend this important workshop for the Deaf and share your experiences and complaints with the Metro staff. Metro does not seem to know about any problems and this workshop will give the Deaf a way to let them know.
