Workshop: Japanese Sign Language and Deaf Community

Ms. Sagara Keiko is a Deaf researcher visiting Austin, TX from Japan. Her presentation will focus on Japanese Sign Language, the Deaf Community of Japan, and Numeral Systems in Sign Languages around the world. It is open to interpreters, students, and anyone interested in our international Deaf community.

Sagara Keiko is a project assistant professor at the National Museum of Ethnology (Minpaku). Her research is in Sign Language Typology and Historical Linguistics in Sign Language. She is passionate about communication and sign-languages and hopes that by sharing her experiences, her story inspires and has an impact on other Deaf people.
