The Deaf Education Deaf Studies department is looking for a new faculty member to join the department in Fall of 2019! We seek someone with high energy, enthusiasm, and vision to work within the department in a tenured track position! Screening will begin in February.
We seek a person with knowledge, skills and proficiencies in providing training to students in careers related to ASL Studies and Deaf Education/Deaf Studies. The successful candidate will have earned a doctoral degree in Deaf Education, American Sign Language, Linguistics, or a closely related field. ABDs may be considered. The successful candidate will also have a knowledge of Deaf culture and extensive personal and professional experiences within the Deaf community as well as fluency in American Sign Language. The successful candidate will also have demonstrated teaching research and publication skills.

The responsibilities for this position include advising and counseling majors in the Masters and Doctoral Deaf Education programs. This position also requires the candidate to teach undergraduate, masters, and doctoral courses within the Department as the program needs mandate. The candidate will also serve on departmental, college, and university committees as necessary. The candidate will be conducting research, scholarly activities, and grant writing to meet the program’s needs, as well as meet other day-to-day responsibilities of the faculty position as necessary.
