Narrative:
Diabetes involves so much more than signing “sugar’ or “sugar+ D.” This workshop will introduce a variety of terminology associated with Diabetes. We will explore the vocabulary, the tests used to diagnose diabetes and related conditions, some of the machines, tools, and medicines used to treat the condition(s), and explore sign choices, classifiers, expansion techniques and location(s) of the human anatomy effected.

Learning Objectives:
1.To analyze vocabulary associated with the different forms of Diabetes and related conditions. To understand the base meaning, how to sign it, and the necessary expansions to insure linguistic equivalence and comprehension
2.To familiarize attendees with the machines, tools, and medicines used in treating Diabetes and its related conditions.
3.To acquaint attendees with the different locations of the human anatomy that they may encounter during the course of interpreting for a Diabetes and related conditions appointment. (i.e., where is the pancreas, the Islets of Langerhans, etc.)
