Interpreter Workshop 1.0 CEUs lead by Peggy Cobb 11/1/19 and 11/2/19

Two workshops – One weekend.

Highland Lakes Camp and Conference Center, Spicewood, Texas. Northwest of Austin.

FINGERSPELLING – HOW and WHEN: This workshop will provide participants with research-based practices to better understand how and when to incorporate fingerspelling in their work to produce a clear, accurate and dynamically equivalent message from English to American Sign Language.

Help, I’m stuck! How can I improve?: With languages and cultures that are always growing and changing, interpreters cannot continue to stay at the same level of knowledge, skills, and abilities and expect to provide clear and accurate interpreting. To grow to match the needs of the Deaf community, we must be able to talk about our work, apply research-based practices, and strive for effective communication. This workshop will present proven techniques to talk about “the work” we do and create a clear plan for improvement.

10 hours of instruction 3 meals overnight motel room snacks fellowship.
