Job Description:
The Program Coordination Specialist is hired by, and reports to the Office of Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services (ODHHS) Director and performs moderately complex (journey-level) consultative services and technical assistance work. Work is performed with limited supervision, while exercising initiative and independent judgment. Work involves planning, developing, scheduling, and implementing various service projects and providing consultative services and technical assistance to program staff, governmental agencies, community organizations, and the general public.

Duties include: establishing program goals and objectives; developing program guidelines, procedures, and policies; developing schedules and priorities; evaluating program activities; developing budget requests to achieve program goals; and providing consultative and technical services to agency program staff, other governmental agencies, public/private community organizations, contracted service providers, consumers and the general public. Provides training when required to meet program and/or project objectives.

Performs other duties as assigned to maintain department operations.

Knowledge Skills Abilities:
Knowledge of deaf and hard of hearing community cultures and how each are affected through various means, including but not limited to: age of onset and age of identification.

Knowledge of a variety of service delivery systems methods utilized in a variety of service areas.

Knowledge of vocabulary and language related to health and human services fields.

Skill in organization and time management.

Skill in the use of a personal computer utilizing Microsoft Windows and the Microsoft Office, Suite of software programs, preference for Excel and the use of the Internet.

Skill to develop, manage and maintain electronic data management and/or word processing and spreadsheets and software.

Skill to develop and implement administrative procedures and to evaluate their effectiveness.

Skill to plan, organize, schedule, project costs, and complete projects for efficient results and accuracy.

Skill to understand and interpret rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

Skill to research and problem solve complex problems.

Ability to communicate with persons with varying degrees of hearing loss, good public speaking skills, good facial expressions, gestures.

Ability to work with a variety of professional service providers and the general public.

Ability to establish goals and objectives, to develop and evaluate administrative policies and procedures, and to prepare concise reports.

Ability to provide deaf or hard of hearing related services to persons who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Registration or Licensure Requirements:
NA

Initial Selection Criteria:
Knowledge of deaf and hard of hearing community cultures.
Experience in providing deaf or hard of hearing related services to persons who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Ability to communicate effectively in American Sign Language.
Project management experience.
Spreadsheet experience.
