Knowing Your Rights: How to Effectively File an ADA Complaint

The ADA30 webinar series continues on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at 10 a.m. with an important session on filing ADA complaints. While the ADA was passed 30 years ago, registering complaints regarding the lack of accessibility of both buildings and services remains vital. Understanding the distinction between the different titles of the ADA can be confusing, but our expert panelists will demystify the complaints process. They will discuss how to file a complaint under:

ADA Title I – Employment;

Norman Kieke, Program Specialist, TDLR Architectural Barriers Program (AB). The AB program provides information/education and helps ensure compliance in Texas about the Texas Accessibility Standards as well as the Texas Statute, Government Code, Chapter 469, Elimination of Architectural Barriers.

George M. Powers, JD, Legal Specialist at the Southwest ADA Center. Served on Houston Commission on Disabilities, Accessible Transportation Taskforce, and Houston ReelAbilities Film and Art Festival. Graduate of University of Houston Law Center and Trinity University.

Rodney Kline, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Education and Training Manager. Provides training on all EEO related topics to employer and other interested groups throughout Texas, Oklahoma, and southern New Mexico.

Lucia Romano, J.D., Supervising Attorney of the EVA/CAP/PABSS Team at Disability Rights Texas (DRTX). Her work focuses heavily on employment and ADA matters for individuals with disabilities. She has practiced in federal district courts for the Southern, Eastern, and Western Districts of TX, and in TX state courts.
