Workshop description:

This 4 hour (0.4 CEU) workshop will focus on ways we can share intercultural spaces with one another in these trying times. So many of us come from different backgrounds and cultures and it can be difficult to see another person or culture’s perspective. We will discuss the multiple spaces and/or cultures we inhabit and visit the idea that there is an oppressor that lives within each of us. This oppressor within may be blocking us from building bridges of trust with one another. In addition, we will use comedy as a tool to “not take ourselves too seriously” and to aid us in finding solutions to these age-old challenges we humans invent. We will “rethink” and “re-construct” how we position ourselves in our work and our lives so that we might build bridges of trust with each other and with the clients with work with.

Educational objectives:

  • RECOGNIZE the spaces and/or cultures we inhabit individually as well as the various spaces or cultures our clients may inhabit.
  • ANALYZE the oppressor within and ways this might be blocking us from building trust with one another and with our clients. (We will be using comedic tools to keep this light.)
  • IDENTIFY 3 ways our perspectives may be blocking us from building trust with each other and with our clients.
  • PROPOSE 1 way to re-think or re-construct the spaces we inhabit individually in order to build trust with each other and with our clients.

Come join Tracey Huguley and your colleagues in this workshop where we will be analyzing and breaking down old ways of inhabiting our spaces in this world (using play and comedic tools) in order to re-invent and re-construct bridges of trust toward each other and our clients. Workshop will be presented in ASL and English (2 different dates). Participants in need of special accommodations are asked to email [email protected]

Target audience:
