NAD Seeks Director of Youth Leadership Programs

Silver Spring, MD – The National Association of the Deaf (NAD) seeks a dynamic, energetic and creative person to lead its Youth Leadership Programs, which include Youth Leadership Camp, Junior NAD, Miss Deaf America Ambassador and College Bowl programs and related events and activities.

For the past nine years, Jennifer Yost Ortiz has held this position. “It is with bittersweet feeling that I leave the NAD for new challenges. I am proud of my work with NAD youth leadership programs and I am sure the new director will gain the same tremendous personal and professional growth as I did. I am leaving a great team of passionate people who work diligently to strengthen the NAD and ensure a brighter future for our youth. My commitment and loyalty to NAD will continue as always.”

“We wish Jennifer the best in her new career endeavors, and even as she moves on, we know she’ll always be a supporter of NAD youth efforts. Under her leadership, our youth programs have undergone many wonderful changes and improvements. She has also been an inspiration and role model for deaf youth nationwide,” said Nancy J. Bloch, chief executive officer. “Many have gone on to become leaders in their own right within the community and in their workplaces ? this is testimonial to her work and the success of NAD Youth Leadership Programs.”

Interested persons are encouraged to review the Director of Youth Leadership Programs position announcement (see below); applications must be received at the NAD by 12 noon Eastern time on Monday, August 10, 2009.
