Summer contract Job Opportunity – Houston

Two childcare coordinators are needed for the 2012 Statewide Conference
on Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (http://www.swced.org) The
positions are short-term contract positions.

Children’s Program Coordinator/Supervisor

July 29 – August 1, 2012

Duties:
Develop a comprehensive schedule with appropriate activities planned
for each age group. Age range is approximately 5 yrs to 15 yrs. Develop
a plan for smooth transitions from families to children’s programs and
children’s programs to families, safe child/parent exchange system, and
parent contact procedures. The Conference Planning Committee will
recruit volunteers and secure the location. The coordinator will make
all logistical arrangements, childcare lists, volunteer list, contact
lists, snacks, room assignments and supply list for a quality childcare
program. Work with Statewide Conference planners to coordinate
children’s schedules with adult program schedules. Provide volunteer
training and supervision in terms of the schedules, activities,
logistics and procedures. At the end of the conference, provide
evaluative feedback for future conferences.

Required Qualifications:
• Experience supervising children.
• Experience planning recreational/educational activities for children
preschool through High School.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience supervising children who are deaf or hard of hearing
• Strong organizational skills, ability to work as a team member and
supervise children and volunteer staff
• Ability to work with diverse staff and families
• Sign Language skills

Honorarium: $750 Inclusive –

4 days (July 29-31 and Aug 1) + pre-planning time
HOURS: January to July – misc. pre-planning time (10-15 hours)
July 29 – approx. 2 hours (set-up only)
July 30 & 31 – 8:00am to 6:00pm
Aug 1 – 8:00 am to 1:00 pm

The conference and childcare activities will be located at the Westin
Galleria in Houston – no travel or lodging costs will be provided .

smooth transitions from families to childcare and childcare to
families, safe child/parent exchange system, and parent contact
procedures. The Conference Planning Committee will recruit volunteers
and secure the location. The coordinator will make all logistical
arrangements, childcare lists, volunteer list, contact lists, snacks,
room assignments and supply list for a quality childcare program. Work
with Statewide Conference planners to coordinate children’s schedules
with adult program schedules. Provide volunteer training and
