Nerd Nite presentations:

“From Crocodile Dung to Condoms: An Oral History of Birth Control,” by Arlene Cornejo

People have been getting it on for ages, using all sorts of methods to prevent pregnancy. Find out what some of our ancestors have used while between the sheets, and about a time when you could have been jailed for mailing information about contraceptives. This history of birth control will bring us from the medieval ages to how our current methods such as condoms and the pill have come to be.

Arlene Cornejo is a health educator with Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas with more than 7 years of health education experience. She has worked with teenagers, young adults, and parents, currently focusing on delivering evidence-based sex education in the Austin area. Arlene is also pursuing her masters in Health Education at Texas State.
