Shirley Ann Layman

SHIRLEY ANN LAYMAN, age 78, a resident of Irving for 47 years, died Monday, December 30, 2013 at a care center in Granbury, Texas. Born September 10, 1935 in Port Arthur, Texas, she grew up in Ragley, Louisiana and graduated from Louisiana School for the Deaf. Shirley married William Alvin Layman on January 21, 1961 in Garland, Texas. He preceded her in death on August 14, 1987. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Grand Prairie, Texas. 

Survivors include her sons, Jack Layman and wife Kris of Grapevine, and Jesse Layman of Irving; companion, Joe Dickens of Azle and his children, Lynn Hennessy, Herbert Hennessy and James Hennessy; grandchildren, Nate, Kaitlyn, Preston, Chloe, Gracie, Paisley, Tyler, Dustin, Olivia, Elizabeth, Ashley, Joshua and Hailey; sister, Peggy Brown; brothers, Ross Slaydon and Gerald Slaydon. A viewing for friends will be held from 12:00 to 1:15 p.m., Saturday, January 4 at Donnelly’s Colonial Funeral Home, 606 West Airport Freeway in Irving. Graveside service is 2:00 p.m., Saturday at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Irving with Clint Krogman officiating.
