A sminulation of Deaf Culture

Time: 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM

Date: Saturday, April 5, 2014

Live life in a simulated deaf environment at Deaf Deaf World, scheduled on Saturday, April 5, from 1:00 to 5:00 at the Living Legends Conference Center on the Spring Creek campus. You will learn some basic American Sign Language so that you can go to a grocery store, eat out, do your banking, etc., all in a non-hearing environment. Also become familiar with Deaf history and experiences and with civil rights concerns in the Deaf community. Finally, enjoy ASL performances of stories, comedies and skits. 

Admission is free. Donations will be accepted, and proceeds will go to the interpreter student scholarship fund.

* Experience life in an entirely deaf environment: Eat out, go to the grocery store, do your banking, etc.
* Enjoy stage performances of stories, comdies, and skits
* Become familiar with deaf history and experiences
* Learn about civil rights for the deaf community
* Learn some American Sign Language (ASL)
