ADARA and ASDC: Potential Partners

As those involved with the American Society for Deaf Children (ASDC) know, “recognition, education and intervention at an early age makes a difference for a lifetime.” ADARA board member Rebecca Goffman strives for appropriate assessment and treatment of children who are deaf or hard of hearing through her work with Volunteers of America in Minnesota. Likewise, long-time board member Doug Dittfurth and current TEHDI Coordinator in Texas notes that “ADARA is all about professionals networking for excellence in service delivery to persons who are deaf and hard of hearing – last I heard, children are persons too!”

In February, they participated in an online chat with Jodee Crace, Past President of ASDC and Michelle Niehaus, current President of ADARA. Opportunities for sharing information and collaborating to reach common goals were discussed. ADARA is not an organization just for adults and welcomes the opportunity to work together to address early identification, intervention and providing rich language and social supports for children who are deaf.
