Presenter Bio:

Casey Praytor graduated from Tyler Junior College in 2007 with an Associate Degree in Applied Science in American Sign Language Interpreting, then studied American Sign Language and Linguistics at Gallaudet University from 2007 to 2009. She was the first Hearing Undergraduate (HUG) student from the East Texas area to attend Gallaudet University since they began accepting a small percentage of hearing students in 2001. In 2009, she began working at Tyler Junior College as a Lab Specialist, providing academic support for Interpreting and ASL students and technological support for TJC’s Interpreter Training Program’s newly installed computer lab. From 2011 to 2014, Praytor taught a range of classes including ASL III and IV, Transliterating, and Sign to Voice as an adjunct instructor. She also presented annually as a guest lecturer on Classifiers in Special Topics and regularly substituted in other Interpreting and ASL courses. In September 2012, Praytor presented the workshop, Fundamentals of Linguistics: How Does It Apply to Me? at Tyler Junior College ITP’s “ASL Smorgasbord.”
