Deaf Action Center (DAC) is seeking resumes for the position of Hearing Loss

Resource Specialist for Fort Worth, Texas office.

Summary: The purpose of the Hearing Loss Resource Specialist (HLRS) is to provide services to persons with hearing loss, including those who are deaf, hard of hearing, and late deafened; to identify solutions based on the needs of the individual and their family and strive to improve quality of life for these persons by providing essential training and information. Training may include: information on communication strategies, assistive technology, hearing loss awareness, cochlear implants and hearing aids. Assistance locating resources in the community and individualized assessment of workplace and educational challenges for the consumer are also provided as needed.

Qualified Hearing Loss Resource Specialist shall have as a minimum:

? Basic knowledge of the communication needs of persons who have hearing loss

? Ability to modify his/her communication methods to clearly communicate with this population

? Basic knowledge of hearing aids, cochlear implants and specialized assistive devices used by persons who have hearing loss

? Basic knowledge of the various types of hearing loss, their causes and their impact

? Basic knowledge of the psychosocial implications of hearing loss

? Public speaking experience and ability

? Basic knowledge of Vocational Rehabilitation Services

? Preferred: Bachelor’s degree

? Two years of experience working with individuals who have hearing loss

Location: Fort Worth, Texas
Status: Exempt, Full-Time (40 hours)
