Communication Access Oversight Specialist

The Communication Access Oversight Specialist is hired by, is accountable and reports to the DHHS Director and performs highly complex (senior-level) consultative service and program assistance work.

Duties include: establishing program goals and objectives; developing program guidelines, procedures, and policies; developing schedules and priorities; evaluating program activities; and providing consultative and technical services, overseeing, advising and facilitating program trainers that provide information, technical assistance, educational training to consumers, the general public, other governmental agencies, public/private community organizations, contracted service providers, and agency staff.

Communication Access Specialist (two openings)

There are two Communication Access Specialist positions available at DHHS at this time. They both have similar responsibilities, but each one of them is coded differently under the state system. It is highly encouraged for applicants to apply for both in order to get the full consideration for these important roles at DHHS.

The Communication Access Specialist is hired by, accountable and reports to the DHHS Director and performs complex (journey-level) consultative services and technical assistance work. Work involves assisting with the planning, developing, and implementing various training and education programs and providing consultative services and technical assistance to program staff, governmental agencies, community organizations, and the general public.

Duties include: assisting with establishing program goals and objectives; assisting with developing program guidelines, procedures, and policies; assisting with developing schedules and priorities; assisting with evaluating program activities; and providing consultative and technical services and training to agency program staff, other governmental agencies, public/private community organizations, contracted service providers, consumers, and the general public.

Board for Evaluation of Interpreters Program Specialist

The Board for Evaluation of Interpreters (BEI) Program Specialist is hired by, accountable and reports to the DHHS Director and performs highly complex (senior-level) consultative services and technical assistance work. Work involves planning, developing, and implementing major agency program(s) and providing consultative services and technical assistance to program staff, governmental agencies, community organizations, or the general public. May train, lead, and/or prioritize the work of others.

Some duties include: developing BEI program rules, policies, procedures, standards, and manuals in accordance with program objectives and goals; coordinating the marketing of the BEI program to interested entities wishing to lease the BEI tests or issue BEI certifications or licenses; oversees licensure agreements and contracts; and addressing complaints against interpreters filed with DHHS.

Program Coordination Specialist

The Program Coordination Specialist is hired by, and reports to the DHHS Director and performs moderately complex (journey-level) consultative services and technical assistance work. Work is performed with limited supervision, while exercising initiative and independent judgment. Work involves planning, developing, and implementing various service projects and providing consultative services and technical assistance to program staff, governmental agencies, community organizations, and the general public.

Duties include: establishing program goals and objectives; developing program guidelines, procedures, and policies; developing schedules and priorities; evaluating program activities; developing budget requests to achieve program goals; and providing consultative and technical services to agency program staff, other governmental agencies, public/private community organizations, contracted service providers, consumers, and the general public.
