Texas Advocates for Justice – Training Opportunity for D/HH

Advocates for Justice (TAJ), an organizing project of Grassroots Leadership, (https://grassrootsleadership.org) seeks to try to empower those who have been negatively impacted by the criminal justice system. They have a Houston chapter and an Austin chapter, and they are hosting a training in Austin, Texas on November 11, 2017.

The training focuses on transformational organizing, personal storytelling, and political education, and their goal is to support individuals who have been marginalized as they move forward in their efforts to reform the criminal justice system.

Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals of any gender identifications and ethnicities, representing different incarcerated experiences, are encouraged to apply here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScrsdcHBRYKXYLkIuyzIyuAUgiQCjnMqUgSTsbnE-QJKBklRg/viewform

They will then be interviewed by Jorge Renaud, Lead Organizer, to determine they’d be a good fit for the training.

The training will be at 3701 East Martin Luther King, at the Friends Society of Austin meeting house. It begins at 9:00 am and finishes at 5:00 pm. TAJ will provide two full meals, snacks, and will offer a $100 stipend to anyone who finishes the day.

Please email Jorge Renaud – [email protected] – with any further questions. He can also be reached at (512) 825-9052.
