Obituary: Antonio Carlos Chavez

Antonio Carlos Chavez (Tony) was very involved with the deaf community in San Antonio. We are having his memorial mass on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mary Magdalene’s Catholic Church. His ashes will be scattered after. There will be a deaf interpreter provided by SAI Interpreting & Translation.

1947-2018

Antonio Carlos Chavez, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at the age of 70 from complications related to heart failure. Antonio (Tony) was born to parents Gregoria and Carlos Chavez on December 19, 1947 in Laredo, Texas. He grew up as the eldest of four and attended Corpus Christi Public School 1955-1959; Del Rio Public School 1960-1963, Texas School for the Deaf in Austin, Texas on January 6, 1964-1966. In Albuquerque, he resided at Solar Villa Apartments. Tony is survived by sister, Nora Chavez of Albuquerque, NM; brother Joel Chavez, sister-in-law Kyonia Chavez, nieces, Jillian Jalen

He was loved and cherished by many people including : his siblings, Nora Chavez of Albuquerque, NM, Joel Chavez, Cesar Chavez of San Antonio, TX; his sister-in-law, Kyonia Chavez; his nieces, Jillian Chavez of Albuquerque, NM, Jalen Chavez of Albuquerque, NM, Joni Chavez of Albuquerque, NM; his step-daughter, Carla Canter of Oakwood, TX.; his aunts, Juanita Walls of Laredo, TX, Alicia Chavez of San Antonio, TX; and also, Carmelita Rodriguez, George Chavez, Dolores Chavez, Gilbert, Joe, Ruben, Bobby, Rudy, Patricia, Mary. The family is grateful for the condolences, but respectfully declines flowers and donations.
