Obituary: John Brady Carter

John Brady Carter, 69, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away on December 13, 2019. John was born on June 23, 1950 in Fabens, Texas to the late John Raymond and Betty Lou Carter. When he was a young boy, he enjoyed swimming and going to his granddaddy’s ranch to fish and hunt. He graduated from the Texas School for the Deaf in 1971, where he played basketball and football and won the National Championship two times. He attended Lee College from 1971-1972. At the age of 22, he worked in the construction field on the Austin highways. He loved bowling with the deaf league in Austin. He worked at the print shop for the State of Texas comptroller from 1980-1984. He attended Sunset College for the Deaf in Lubbock. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 38 years, Anita; Son-Mario Kopecky and wife Debra; Grandchildren-Haleigh, Taylor, Brady, Rene, and Sebastian Kopecky;Brother-Richard Carter and wife Pat; Brother-Charles Carter and wife Malinda; Aunt-Ramona Zerr; Uncle-Dob Cunningham and wife Kay; Niece-Krista Vargas and husband Ano; Nephew-Jordan Carter and wife Corey; and numerous cousins. John was preceded in death by his parents, John Raymond and Betty Lou Carter, his sister, Terrie Carter, and his grandparents, Pete and Lorene Cunningham.
