Volunteer Interpreter Wanted – Volleyball Team in Austin

Volunteer Interpreter Wanted – Volleyball Team in Austin

Hello! My name is Heather Anderson and I’m one of the Directors for Roots Volleyball (a north Austin junior volleyball club). We have a deaf 11U player this season playing on 11 Maple. I am messaging to see if you have any available volunteers to interpret for her during her practices and tournaments.

The assistant coach on her team does know ASL but we are hoping to secure additional assistance until all parties (Avalyn/Beth/coaches) feel comfortable continuing on their own. For additional context – She will be on a court at our facility (Treehouse Gym at 15407 Long Vista Drive, Suite 100, Austin, Texas 78728) with 8 other players, head coach, and assistant coach for an hour and a half practice every Tuesday beginning in January.

We would like to have an interpreter preferably with a volleyball background (for sport specific terminology and an understanding of practice flow). The needed dates are listed below. Please let me know if you need any additional information. Thank you for your time and have a great week.

Practices:

Tournament:
Saturday, January 29, 2022 (times will be determined closer to date – either 7:00am-2:00pm or 2:00pm-9:00pm)

Thank you.
