Minnie Lee Collins
August 10, 1932 – January 25, 2022

Minnie Lee Holst Collins entered the gates of heaven on Tuesday, January 25th, 2022, at the age of 89.

Minnie Lee Holst Collins was born on August 10, 1932 in Gonzales, Texas to parents, George and Katie Holst. She resided in Ft Worth, TX with her husband and family.

Minnie married Henry Clay “H.C.” Collins on May 24, 1954. They were blissfully married 65 years together, and reunited they will have a Heavenly 68th anniversary this year.

Minnie was a Trailblazer, she was one of the 1st Deaf employees hired for the United States Postal Service Main Branch in Ft. Worth, Texas. Because of her hard work and determination, she paved the way for other Deaf-Hearing Impaired people to apply. She retired from the Post Office after 22 years in the mid 1990’s.

Minnie is an Alumni of the Texas School of the Deaf in Austin, Texas. Where she met her beloved husband, H.C. Collins. To this day, she still has a love for this school and the city of Austin.

To know Minnie is to love her, she wore a huge smile, caring and always friendly. She loved her family and friends and was quite the social butterfly. Over the years she enjoyed activities and events at the Ft. Worth Deaf Club, bowling in the Women’s Deaf League, planning and attending luncheons and outings with her Red Hat Club ladies, weekend getaways, vacations and daily chats with family and friends. Minnie loved to cook and host parties. She was always experimenting with a new recipe she found in a cookbook or the internet. Her kitchen was fully stocked with lots of spices, herbs, and the latest hosting or kitchen gadget. Making a house a home was also dear to her, she took pride in her home from landscaping, to flowers, a large back porch for entertaining and nice indoor décor.

Minnie is preceded in Death by her beloved husband, H.C. Collins, parents, George and Katie Holst, brothers, George Holst III, John Holst and Robert Holst and daughter in law, Dinah Collins

Survivors – Son, Richard Collins; daughter, Tamara Walker; significant other, Larry Maples; grandchildren, Karen Walker Munden and husband, Dan, Kathy Stokes and husband, Mack, Kevin Walker and wife, Haley, Dwane Collins and wife, Becky Gonzales, Rusty Collins and significant other, Liz Sarmiento, several great grandchildren; a great- great grandchild; nieces, and nephews.
