Each bi-monthly event will
consist of two 45 minute talks separated by a 30 minutes network and
refreshment break. Topics will be related to a wide range of disability
issues in Texas. Invitees include ADA Coordinators of city, county, state
government, others who work with people with disabilities, and the general
public. Please distribute this announcement widely.

This session, Disclosing Disabilities – When and If To Disclose, will focus
on those factors to consider when making the determination to disclose a
disability to a potential employer. Some people choose to disclose their
disability because they know they will need accommodations at the interview,
or to train for the job. Others may choose not to disclose disability for
fear an interview may never be offered, or their disability will become the
focus of the interview instead of their “abilities”. In the end, the
decision is a personal one. There are a number of key factors to consider
when making the determination of “when” or “if” to disclose. This session
will address those factors to consider when making the determination
“when” or “if” to disclose.

BIO:
Randi Turner serves as the Communications Access Specialist for the Office
for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services within the Department of Assistive and
rehabilitative Services – Division for Rehabilitation Services.
