RIT ANNOUNCES CAMP FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL
\nSTUDENTS WITH HEARING LOSS<\/strong><\/p>\n

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (April 30, 2010) – African-American, Latino American and
\nNative American students with hearing loss who are entering 7th, 8th, or 9th
\ngrade are invited to Steps to Success, a career exploration weekend camp
\nAugust 6 \u2013 8 at Rochester Institute of Technology\u2019s National Technical
\nInstitute for the Deaf.<\/p>\n

The camp invites students to explore career options that can help prepare
\nthem for life after high school. Working with experienced counselors and
\ninstructors who use both English and sign language, participants construct
\nrobots, perform science experiments in high-tech labs, design digital
\nimages, and more. Students will stay in residence halls, get a taste of life
\non campus and meet other new friends from around the country.<\/p>\n

Parents or guardians are encouraged to stay for the weekend and can get tips
\nto support their student\u2019s transition from high school to college or a
\ncareer, as well as share experiences and information with other parents of
\nstudents with hearing loss.<\/p>\n

The cost for students is $50 and includes housing, meals and activities.
\nLimited scholarships are available based on financial need. For parents,
\nthe cost is $100 per person for the weekend.<\/p>\n

Steps to Success is supported in part by the Sprint Foundation.<\/p>\n
