(April 30, 2010) &#8211; African-American, Latino American and<br \/>\nNative American students with hearing loss who are entering 7th, 8th, or 9th<br \/>\ngrade are invited to Steps to Success, a career exploration weekend camp<br \/>\nAugust 6 \u2013 8 at Rochester Institute of Technology\u2019s National Technical<br \/>\nInstitute for the Deaf.<\/p>\n<p>The camp invites students to explore career options that can help prepare<br \/>\nthem for life after high school. Working with experienced counselors and<br \/>\ninstructors who use both English and sign language, participants construct<br \/>\nrobots, perform science experiments in high-tech labs, design digital<br \/>\nimages, and more. Students will stay in residence halls, get a taste of life<br \/>\non campus and meet other new friends from around the country.<\/p>\n<p>Parents or guardians are encouraged to stay for the weekend and can get tips<br \/>\nto support their student\u2019s transition from high school to college or a<br \/>\ncareer, as well as share experiences and information with other parents of<br \/>\nstudents with hearing loss.<\/p>\n<p>The cost for students is $50 and includes housing, meals and activities.<br \/>\nLimited scholarships are available based on financial need.
