Employers Honored for Providing Student Jobs<\/strong><\/p>\n

Texas School for the Deaf\u2019s Career Programs Vital for Students\u2019 Future<\/p>\n

Austin, Texas \u2013 Friday, May 21, 2010 Today, the Texas School for the Deaf
\n(TSD) honors businesses who employ students, providing necessary skills to
\nadvance their futures.<\/p>\n

Collaborations with employers providing jobs for students while they are
\nstill in school is critical. Dr. Susan Greene, TSD\u2019s Career and Transition
\nService Coordinator, says \u201cTSD is fortunate to have a network of local
\nbusinesses that provide our students with the opportunities to gain critical
\njob skills in a real-world context.\u201d<\/p>\n

Austin-area employers that partner with TSD\u2019s Work Training programs give
\nstudents opportunities to learn job skills in a wide variety of fields.
\nEmployers like H-E-B, Guero\u2019s and La Mexicana Bakery partner with TSD\u2019s
\nculinary arts program to provide food service training students can not
\nexperience in a classroom or gain from a textbook. Sterling Autobody and
\nTwomey Auto Works provide jobs to students interested in auto mechanics and
\nauto body repair. Retailers, like TJ Maxx, JoAnn Fabrics, Hobby Lobby &
\nKohl\u2019s, employ students in a variety of roles, and Image Microsystems allows
\nstudents first-hand experience in the technology field.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese opportunities help students become more competitive and marketable
\nwhen looking for employment in the future,\u201d adds Greene.<\/p>\n
