Call for Conference Presentation Proposals<\/strong><\/p>\n

The deadline for receiving proposals for the 2011 ADARA conference,
\nscheduled April 12-16 in San Diego has been extended to Friday July 23,
\n2010. The form can be found on the ADARA web site at
\n http:\/\/www.adara.org\/<\/a> under the conference information link.<\/p>\n

Please note that agencies who support presenters will be recognized as
\nsponsors of the conference.<\/p>\n

The conference is currently planning to offer three tracks- Rehabilitation,
\nMental Health\/Chemical Dependency, and Transition\/Independent Living.
\nWithin those tracks we hope to offer training that will assist professionals
\nin developing skills that will enhance their opportunity for advancement.<\/p>\n

Proposals for 90 minute sessions or in-depth training sessions of 3 hours
\nor longer are welcome. All proposals will be reviewed and a decision is
\nexpected by mid-August.<\/p>\n

ADARA \u2013 Professionals Networking for Excellence in Service Delivery with
\nIndividuals Who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing request proposals for its
\nnational biennial 2011 conference in San Diego, California. ADARA leadership
\nand members work to meet its mission by:<\/p>\n

\u2022 Enhancing the professional competencies of the membership;
\n\u2022 Expanding opportunities for networking among ADARA colleagues; and
\n\u2022 Supporting positive public policies for individuals who are deaf or hard
\nof hearing.<\/p>\n

The 2011 Conference will have three (3) tracks: Rehabilitation, Mental
\nHealth\/Chemical Dependency and Transition\/Independent Living. Proposals
\nclearly focusing on these tracks will be given priority.<\/p>\n

Deadline<\/p>\n

A completed program proposal must be emailed by June 30, 2010_ (extended to
\nJuly 23rd)_. The email should contain an attachment which includes:
\npresentation title, name(s) and information of presenter(s) with
\ncoordinating presenter listed first, presentation abstract, presentation
\nlearning objectives, presentation summary, presentation description,
\ncompensation package requested, A\/V needs, communication mode of
\npresentation\/interpreting needs and anticipated audience. All proposals will
\nbe considered understanding budgetary constraints may limit choices \u2013
\nproposals with sponsorships identified are truly appreciated (see
\nwww.adara.org for Conference sponsorship opportunities). Conference
\npresenters are also strongly encouraged to submit an article for publication
\nin the conference proceedings.<\/p>\n

The conference will open on April 12, 2011 with several one day
\npre-conference opportunities. Pre-conference training\u2019s will be scheduled
\nfor either half day or all day time slots. Conference breakout sessions
\nduring the full conference (April 13 \u2013 16) will be scheduled for 90 minutes
\nbut back-to-back sessions will be considered to create 3.0\/4.5\/6.0-hour
\ntraining opportunities for more in-depth learning outcomes. In addition, a
\nposter session will provide the opportunity for presenters to interact more
\nclosely with conference participants and to showcase best practices or
\nprogram models without doing a formal presentation.<\/p>\n

The conference offers an opportunity to bring a variety of professionals
\ntogether including vocational rehabilitation counselors, mental health
\nprofessionals, licensed professional counselors, independent living service
\nproviders, educators, transition specialists, and community-based
\nrehabilitation providers. When developing your proposals, please keep the
\nneeds and interests of these groups in mind.<\/p>\n
