WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal
\nEmergency Management Agency (FEMA) today announced that an emergency exists
\nin the state of Texas and that federal aid is available to supplement state
\nand local response efforts due to the emergency conditions resulting from
\nTropical Storm Alex beginning on June 27, 2010, and continuing.<\/p>\n

Federal funding is available to coordinate all disaster relief efforts which
\nhave the purpose of alleviating the hardship and suffering caused by the
\nemergency on the local population, and to provide appropriate assistance for
\nrequired emergency measures, authorized under Title V of the Stafford Act,
\nto save lives and to protect property and public health and safety, and to
\nlessen or avert the threat of a catastrophe in the counties of Aransas,
\nAtascosa, Bee, Bexar, Brooks, Cameron, Comal, Duval, Guadalupe, Hidalgo, Jim
\nHogg, Jim Wells, Kenedy, Kleberg, Live Oak, McMullen, Medina, Nueces,
\nRefugio, San Patricio, Starr, Webb, Willacy, Wilson, and Zapata.<\/p>\n

Specifically, FEMA is authorized to identify, mobilize, and provide at its
\ndiscretion, equipment and resources necessary to alleviate the impacts of
\nthe emergency. Emergency protective measures, limited to direct federal
\nassistance, will be provided at 75 percent federal funding.<\/p>\n

Bradley Harris has been named as the Federal Coordinating Officer for
\nfederal recovery operations in the affected area.<\/p>\n

\nthat as a nation we work together to build, sustain, and improve our
\ncapability to prepare for, protect against, respond to, recover from, and
\nmitigate all hazards.<\/p>\n

\navailable as needed and warranted under President Obama’s emergency disaster
\ndeclaration issued for Texas.<\/p>\n

Assistance for the State and Affected Local Governments Can Include as
\nRequired:<\/p>\n

* FEMA is authorized to provide appropriate assistance for required
\nemergency measures, authorized under Title V of the Stafford Act, to save
\nlives and to protect property and public health and safety, or to lessen or
