Please be advised<br \/>\nthat this workshop will be diagnostic and reflective in nature and the<br \/>\nmajority of the day will involve instructor-guided, peer\/group feedback.<\/p>\n<p>Each confirmed participant will be required to bring a flash drive (or disc)<br \/>\nwith the following pre-<br \/>\nprepared recorded samples:<\/p>\n<p>* Two (2) ASL-to-Spoken English renditions, at least 10 minutes each, one<br \/>\nmale and one female source.<br \/>\n* Two (2) Spoken English-to-ASL renditions, at least 10 minutes each, one<br \/>\nmale and one female source.<br \/>\n* One, ten minute Transliterated rendition (Spoken English-to-Sign)<br \/>\n* One, ten minute English rendition (Signs following English-like syntax<br \/>\ninto Spoken English)<\/p>\n<p>It is suggested that the recorded media be PC compatible with common media<br \/>\nplayers.<\/p>\n<p>Participants may wish to bring laptops\/notebooks.<\/p>\n<p>Participants may also wish to bring previous test results (i.e. RID, NIC,<br \/>\nNAD, EIPA, BEI) for personal reference.<\/p>\n<p>Major focus areas may include observation, discovery, and identification of<br \/>\nthe following \u201ctargets\u201d within your renditions and performance:<\/p>\n<p>* ASL syntax and related grammatical features incorporated and maintained<br \/>\nthroughout renditions<br \/>\n* English syntax and related grammatical features incorporated and<br \/>\nmaintained throughout renditions<br \/>\n* Expansion and Compression features of language incorporated appropriately<br \/>\nwithin renditions<br \/>\n* Building schema and context from missing, fragmented, or partial source<br \/>\nlanguage discourse<br \/>\n* Semantic intent within a rendition at the lexical level and at the<br \/>\ndiscourse level.<br \/>\n* \u201cDistractions\u201d such as accent and regional dialect, poor audio,<br \/>\npoor\/blurry video, interference within the background.<br \/>\n* Circumlocution, including Amphilogism and Euphemism<br \/>\n* Ambiguity and disambiguation<br \/>\n* Gender variances<br \/>\n* Expressive and Receptive fingerspelling<\/p>\n<p>Each participant will develop an Individual Education Plan (IEP) that will<br \/>\nserve as a foundation on which to continue supportive self-generated<br \/>\nfeedback.<\/p>\n<p>To register, your contact information, a copy of your valid certification,<br \/>\nand $85 (money order or cashier\u2019s check only), made payable to MIKE<br \/>\nMcMILLION<\/p>\n<p>Registration closes with 12 paid registrants on or before September 12,<br \/>\n2010.<\/p>\n<p>*Future sessions are being scheduled for 2011.<\/p>\n<p>Mike McMillion<br \/>\nEmail: mcmillion_m@yahoo.com<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Performance Feedback and Analysis for Interpreters Date: September 25, 2010 Big Brother\/Sister Training Room 205 W Main Arlington TX 76010 Time: 9:00 &#8211;
