Due to the nature of this consultation-oriented workshop, registration is
\nlimited to 12 participants holding active certifications. Please be advised
\nthat this workshop will be diagnostic and reflective in nature and the
\nmajority of the day will involve instructor-guided, peer\/group feedback.<\/p>\n

Each confirmed participant will be required to bring a flash drive (or disc)
\nwith the following pre-
\nprepared recorded samples:<\/p>\n

* Two (2) ASL-to-Spoken English renditions, at least 10 minutes each, one
\nmale and one female source.
\n* Two (2) Spoken English-to-ASL renditions, at least 10 minutes each, one
\nmale and one female source.
\n* One, ten minute Transliterated rendition (Spoken English-to-Sign)
\n* One, ten minute English rendition (Signs following English-like syntax
\ninto Spoken English)<\/p>\n

It is suggested that the recorded media be PC compatible with common media
\nplayers.<\/p>\n

Participants may wish to bring laptops\/notebooks.<\/p>\n

Participants may also wish to bring previous test results (i.e. RID, NIC,
\nNAD, EIPA, BEI) for personal reference.<\/p>\n

Major focus areas may include observation, discovery, and identification of
\nthe following \u201ctargets\u201d within your renditions and performance:<\/p>\n

* ASL syntax and related grammatical features incorporated and maintained
\nthroughout renditions
\n* English syntax and related grammatical features incorporated and
\nmaintained throughout renditions
\n* Expansion and Compression features of language incorporated appropriately
\nwithin renditions
\n* Building schema and context from missing, fragmented, or partial source
\nlanguage discourse
\n* Semantic intent within a rendition at the lexical level and at the
\ndiscourse level.
\n* \u201cDistractions\u201d such as accent and regional dialect, poor audio,
\npoor\/blurry video, interference within the background.
\n* Circumlocution, including Amphilogism and Euphemism
\n* Ambiguity and disambiguation
\n* Gender variances
\n* Expressive and Receptive fingerspelling<\/p>\n

Each participant will develop an Individual Education Plan (IEP) that will
\nserve as a foundation on which to continue supportive self-generated
\nfeedback.<\/p>\n
